OPI My Private Jet, $6-$9

OPI's My Private Jet is a gray, off-black nail polish loaded with tiny, tiny bits of glitter (and controversy). It reminds me a bit of the 212 color, except a bit on the cooler side (less coppery) and with smaller pieces of glitter.


It's a nice deep color and the glitter gives it a lot of dimension. It may be dark but it's definitely not boring. The glitter/shimmer is mostly silver, though in the sun it has some (slight) color variations. It reminds me of the sun sparkling on wet gravel or cement. A little badass, but not too dangerous! The texture, of course, is amazing, easy to apply, and dries nicely. True to OPI, it doesn't chip for days and days.

Final verdict
Cost: $6-$8 (standard for an older color, depending on where you buy it).
Color: Dark gray with small bits of silvery glitter. It's like a cooler and more refined 212.
Repeat offender: I love this color and have already painted my nails a couple times with it. It's easy to apply (read: hides mistakes) and looks great as a dark neutral. Goes great with fall colors and will definitely transition into winter.

OPI's Lighten Up, You're Two Pence!, $6-9

OPI's Lighten Up, You're Two Pence! is a perfect color for October--a rich, warm, fiery, burnt orange. It has a metallic finish, small hints of shimmer, and a beautiful opaque color. I love it! Depending on the light, it can look more bright orange or more gold.

The great thing about this orange is that it's dramatic but it's warm, not neon. Totally matches those changing leaves! It would look great with purples, leopard print, browns, and dark teals. Plus, it's a great base for Halloween nail art. I think I'm gonna grab my black nail art pen and try out a jack-o-lantern! I'll def take some pics if it turns out well :)

Final verdict
Cost: $6-$9--normal OPI price.
Color: Absolutely gorgeous! The perfect autumn orange.
Texture: As always, OPI's formula is amazing. You could get away with two coats if you wanted (I used three here).
Repeat offender: I would totally buy this again. Every time the leaves change I try to find a color just like this, and I'm so glad to have found it.

OPI Lincoln Park at Midnight, $6-8

I don't know about you, but I absolutely LOVE dark purple in the fall. Jackets, purses, scarves, sweaters . . . a nice, rich, dark purple just seems to complement everyone's skin tones against an autumn backdrop. OPI's Lincoln Park at Midnight is a beautifully dark, nearly black purple that will go nicely as your clothes transition into the colder months.

What I love about this color is that it is dramatic, but has a subtle surprise of metallic, shimmery purple that will catch your eye at a second glance. If you're into dark colors but afraid to use black on your nails, I'd recommend this. The warmer tones in the purple keep it from being too harsh. The formula, of course, is perfectly smooth and easy to apply. I used 3 coats in these pics.

Final verdict
Cost: $6-$8. It is an older color, but still available.
Dramatic: This is a rich, dramatic color, but the purple tones and metallic finish smooth out the harshness that comes with black nail polish.
Repeat offender: I absolutely love this shade and would definitely buy it again.

OPI Have You Seen My Limo?, $6-$8

Just a classic OPI to round out your week and get you ready for fall! This is probably one of the first OPIs I ever bought. The richness of the color drew me in initially. Plum, brown, and maroon mix together to give this polish a lot of depth. But, what I really love is the metallic glitter mixed in. In the sunlight, it really comes alive.

I can see this as a color I'd wear through fall and winter. It can look fancy when worn with a nice dress, artsy with a warm sweater, and kinda dangerous when paired with leather and studs. It's a versatile color, and even though it's pretty dramatic, I think it would work really nice with a lot of skin tones.

Final verdict
Cost: $6-$8 (it's an old color so it's slightly reduced in price).
Depth: This is definitely not a flat color. The different shades of purple and brown shine in different lighting, and the metallic shimmer is awesome.
Texture: Like all OPIs, this is really easy to put on. Even after having it for a few years, it still works like new.
Repeat offender: I can see this lasting a long time. I try new things all the time so I probably won't buy it again, but that doesn't mean I don't love it!

OPI Start to Finish Base & Top Coat, around $10

As you know, a good base coat and top coat can help keep your nail polish looking nice for a while. I decided to try OPI's Start to Finish because it's 2-in-1: base and top coat. I love the convenience of just having the one bottle. Plus, they have this one which is Formaldehyde Free--that's always good, right?

This stuff smells a little strong but is really easy to use. OPI's amazing brush shape means that you need only one to two quick strokes to get it across your whole nail. It sweeps over your nail completely and fills in the ridges, drying quickly and cleanly. Just a couple of minutes and you're ready to put on your polish, or go out with clean, natural-looking nails.

It works nice as a top coat, too, and I've noticed that is it good at keeping my nail polish from chipping. It adds a nice glossiness that some colors lack.

Final verdict
Cost: Around $10, depending on where you buy it.
Convenience: It's nice to have the first and last steps in one bottle. The brush is wide and it dries quickly, so I'm done in no time.
Lasts: It does help in keeping my nail polish on longer.
Repeat offender: I'd buy this again. It is a little more expensive than a bottle of nail polish from OPI, but I use it with every manicure. My favorite part is that it dries quickly and evenly--perfect for my messy, impatient self!

OPI Catch Me in Your Net, $9

OPI's Catch Me in Your Net is part of their Summer Flutter collection. I think it appeals to all those girls out there who dream of being mermaids. I mean, who doesn't? You get to swim around all day, look awesome, toy with fishermen, chill with dolphins, whatevs. Of course, you're going to need a glittery, sparkly blue-green nail polish to match your tail, right?

From the minute I saw this color, I knew I had to have it. When I put it on my nail, I literally said, "OMG." It's so full of sparkles! And the aqua color is just perfect. This picture makes it look a lot lighter than the bottle, but it's actually a pretty close match. This is just 2 coats, no base or top coat, so maybe it would look darker with another coat. (It also looks different in different lighting, as a lot of OPIs do. The above shot is in the shade.)

I think it goes well with my tokidoki calendar and my octopus ring. :) I can see myself putting this on in the middle of January, just to remember what the beach is like. Here you can see its more greener tones.

Color: Beautiful! The perfect shade of aqua. Be warned: It might make you yearn for ocean waves . . .
Texture: Like all OPIs, this one is smooth and easy to put on. There is a ton of color in just one brush stroke, so you only really need two coats.
Sparkles: The intense amount of gold and green sparkles really give the aqua a lot of depth.
Repeat offender: If you can't tell, I'm in love. I highly recommend it.

OPI Rumple's Wiggin', $2-8

How awesome is this Shrek 3 inspired lavender nailpolish from OPI? Pretty awesome if you ask me. Rumple's Wiggin' is an adorable light purple polish that is sure to make you want to ditch the dark shades (temporarily of course) and get girly.

I've sworn off Disney movies ever since Toy Story 3 so I probably will never see Shrek 3 (the first one was good) but I do think that these polishes are brilliant!

I think that a shade like this is very versatile even though you may not think so at first glance. I'm also digging the dark purple and a few of the green shades that are also found in the collection. OPI never fails to make at least half of one entire collection appealing to me!

Final verdict:
Cost: You can find it anywhere from $2-$8
How many coats to achieve the color in the bottle?: Two coats is perfect!
Repeat offender?: I love this polish, I will be hitting it up over and over again!

OPI Princesses Rule!, $9

Calling all things girly!
There we go :)
This is the baby pinkest, sparkliest, girliest nail polish ever. And I'm so in love with it!


Makes me wanna leave drama aside and channel my inner 5-year-old!
This polish goes on smoothly, like all OPIs. It's pretty sheer, so I'd recommend 3 coats if you're trying to get it as pink as possible. Just don't load it on too thick--as with most glittery polishes, it tends to get goopy if there's too much. Per usual, this polish has great lasting power.

(3 coats and a clear top coat)
I love it with 3 coats, but it's just as pretty with 1 (shown above with my fluffy kitty!). It's a light, natural sparkle with a pink close to the bare nail color. It would work as a super shimmery top coat as well. Try pairing it with a hot pink or a dark purple.

The sun really brings out the shine.
Um, did I mention the sparkles?
Pink, silver, and slightly multicolored--too pretty!

Final verdict
Cost: $9, typical OPI.
Color: Baby pink, emphasis on the pink. Gorgeous! Apply 3 coats to really see the pink. One coat will give you a sparkly top coat with a hint of pink.
Sparkles: So many sparkles! Looks fabulous on its own and amazing as a top coat.
Easy:One thing I love about this polish is that it's easy to put on quickly. It dries pretty quick and hides imperfections. No need to be perfect! You're a princess, you'll look fab anyway.
Repeat offender: I will totally buy it again. I love it! Where's my tiara?

OPI's Green-wich Village, $9

One thing I love about summer is the freedom to try wild colors on your toenails. Wild toenails and wild shoes--can't go wrong! I recently took out one of my old favorites: OPI's Green-wich Village from their Mod about Brights collection. The name always makes me think of New York in the summer.

The green is like a Granny Smith apple mixed with the upholstery of an awesome retro couch. I wore them with my awesome Seychelle heels. I like to use this as a touch of color in my outfit--keep everything else dark with blacks, grays, and dark denim.


Final verdict
Cost: Originally around $9, but can be found on Amazon for as cheap as $3.
Color: Gorgeous and rich, bright but not neon. Very retro! Definitely use at least 2 coats though, otherwise the color won't be as opaque.
Repeat offender: I love this color, and would buy it again if I run out! It's a great saturated green without being too powerful or young.

Sephora by OPI, Havana Dreams, $9

As promised here is the second review (out of six) from the Havana Nights nailpolish from Sephora by OPI. At first I wasn’t sure if I would like this pale blue polish very much but ever since I put it on it has really grown on me. The light blue color is very different from other polishes I own, and even different from the rest of the polishes in this particular collection. If I wanted to really analyze the collection as a whole (hey, I was an English major!) then I would say this light blue is probably representing the clear blue Havana sky (lol, gosh that was corny).


So here is the drill with the polish, you need at least two coats to get the color. The first coat barely shows, the second captures the blue, but three coats is definitely where it becomes perfect. In these photos I have three coats of polish plus a topcoat. It seems like most of these light colored pastel polishes are formulated differently because they never go on as thick and always need a few coats.


I love how bright and happy this looks! This is a great pop of color and definitely gets noticed. I’ve gotten several compliments on my nail color since I put it on and will keep it in circulation all summer long.


Final verdict:
Cost: $9
Does it chip quickly?: I’ve had it on for 3 days and don’t have any chipping, that is more than other polishes can say! I predict that it probably won’t chip much for at least another 3-4 days since it hasn’t yet.
Other uses: By “other uses” I mean this would be a great base color to decorate. I think this would be a great base color with a hot pink leopard print design on it. It could also be used to make the leopard spots. I promise that I will do this and take pictures to show you guys one of these days!
Repeat offender: Yup!

Yoga-ta Get This Blue! OPI Nailpolish, $4-$8

Even though this blue nailpolish is from the OPI India Spring collection a few seasons back I felt the need to review this since I just got it. I think when the collection was initially released I wasn't so into the idea of blue nails but they have become a staple in my look lately. There are just so many different shades of blue to choose from and this one is a lovely deep and dark blue that looks great on fingers and toes.


Doesn't this blue kind of remind you of a refined version of the classic blue nailpolish by Wet N Wild? I am also thinking this will look really good with some silver sparkles painted over. This shade makes me think of a night sky and frankly if a nailpolish can capture that, I want it! The cool thing about OPI nailpolishes is that even though they have different collections every season they still manage to stay around for a long time. I've noticed that buying OPI polishes from Amazon is pretty awesome because they are priced at least half off, I even see some that are priced around $2 which is pretty legit!


Final verdict:
Cost: You can find this priced between $4 and $8 on Amazon or around the internet or different beauty stores.
Will it translate between seasons?: I definitely think that this is one of those shades that will look really good in the winter and in the spring/summer. It gives me a sort of bohemian dreamy vibe.
Repeat offender?: I can see myself wearing this shade a lot in the next coming months so definitely!

Sephora by OPI, Handpicked for Me, $9

Sephora’s Modern Flowers spring nailpolish collection includes many different shades that are all inspired by the flowers of the season. This particular one called Handpicked for Me is a really pretty and feminine nail color that’s perfect for spring. The color is a light pink/lilac with super tiny silver sparkles that adds a really cute and girly touch. In the picture I have two coats of Handpicked for Me, but you can also use one for a subtle (and super quick polish job) or 3 for an extra metallic look. This color is great because it incorporates a pastel with a metallic (from the sparkles) adding a really cool dimension to an otherwise plain pink polish. I am really loving pastel nailpolishes for warmer seasons, especially spring.


Final verdict:
Cost: $9, standard cost for Sephora by OPI polishes. There is also a mini set for $18 with 3 other colors from the collection and Handpicked by Me included.
Does it chip?: This polish doesn’t really chip quickly, I’ve had it on for almost a week now and the chipping is only limited to the top of my nails which is caused by my typing on the keyboard all day.
Repeat offender?: I am definitely into this color and want to get the mini set, there is an awesome green shade called Leaf Him at the Altar that looks amazing!
